First I did learn things I did not know about some tools and threats. I also learned a good bit about some additional vectors.
The Good:
There were some very good questions on the exam which required an understanding of the science.
The Bad:
There were questions in which you had to straight memorize useless information for the real world.
The Really Bad:
The study material from EC-Council does not prepare you for the exam. You need additional information to prepare for the exam.

Congrats and thanks for the review.
Routing TCP/IP I and II for CEH? Really? Interesting. I plan on knocking this one out after I do the SSCP in March. I was thinking of using these as my materials:
Amazon.com: Hacking Exposed: Network Security Secrets and Solutions, Sixth Edition (9780071613743): Stuart McClure, Joel Scambray, George Kurtz: Books - Purchased
Amazon.com: Hacking: The Art of Exploitation, 2nd Edition (9781593271442): Jon Erickson: Books - Purchased
Amazon.com: Wireshark Network Analysis: The Official Wireshark Certified Network Analyst Study Guide (978189393999: Laura Chappell, Gerald Combs: Books - Purchased
Amazon.com: Nmap Network Scanning: The Official Nmap Project Guide to Network Discovery and Security Scanning (9780979958717): Gordon Fyodor Lyon: Books - Need to buy
Amazon.com: CEH Certified Ethical Hacker Study Guide (9780470525203): Kimberly Graves: Books - Need to buy
I also have CBT nuggets from the current CEH although they are going to change it soon and I am playing with the idea of trying to get it before they change it...
Oh and what's up next for you? -

I was suggesting the Routing books because I could not find an equivalent book that has the nuggets of knowledge in it. That being said maybe someone else on the form does know of a better book.Degrees:

Thanks for the advice also, I'll have to add a Cisco book or 2 to my study plans for this. -

Congrats Chris!!! How far did you end up going in Fyodor? I'm using the NMAP book, Web Application Hacker's Handbook, C|EH prep guide and a v6/7 boot camp in March. -
Chris:/* Member Posts: 658 ■■■■■■■■□□I ran through the book reading the practical stuff mostly. I will take a more thorough read later on. I have a large amount of experience with NMAP and the associated tools so I found those questions easy. I had the hardest questions for me dealt with memorizing the obscure tools that I will never use.Degrees:

Chris:/* Member Posts: 658 ■■■■■■■■□□I have a lot of background in scripting, coding, networking and system administration so the rest was reviewing and learning some of the particulars.
I just pushed myself to read the CEH books for the most part and read CEH prep 3 times (speed read), CEH review and looked over the big point notes. I concentrated more on the science then all the minor details of all 250+ tools.Degrees:
