The Best Part:
First I did learn things I did not know about some tools and threats. I also learned a good bit about some additional vectors.

The Good:
There were some very good questions on the exam which required an understanding of the science.

The Bad:
There were questions in which you had to straight memorize useless information for the real world.

The Really Bad:
The study material from EC-Council does not prepare you for the exam. You need additional information to prepare for the exam.

Routing TCP/IP I and II for CEH? Really? Interesting. I plan on knocking this one out after I do the SSCP in March. I was thinking of using these as my materials:

I was suggesting the Routing books because I could not find an equivalent book that has the nuggets of knowledge in it. That being said maybe someone else on the form does know of a better book.

I am still working on my CCNA and my degree so I hope to be able to knock out CCNA before I have to fulfill another work requirement training.

Congrats Chris!!! How far did you end up going in Fyodor? I'm using the NMAP book, Web Application Hacker's Handbook, C|EH prep guide and a v6/7 boot camp in March.

I ran through the book reading the practical stuff mostly. I will take a more thorough read later on. I have a large amount of experience with NMAP and the associated tools so I found those questions easy. I had the hardest questions for me dealt with memorizing the obscure tools that I will never use.

I did take the exam and scored 61% man ... I was so pressed I did not review but is ok. I will try next week. What do suggest for me? I mean what really helped you.?

I have a lot of background in scripting, coding, networking and system administration so the rest was reviewing and learning some of the particulars.

I just pushed myself to read the CEH books for the most part and read CEH prep 3 times (speed read), CEH review and looked over the big point notes. I concentrated more on the science then all the minor details of all 250+ tools.
