If I finish those 2 I may start casually reading for the CCNA:Security

Well finished my CCIP earlier this month.. So that leaves CCDP or CCNP: Sec... I've considered going after CCIE but I just don't know... I am probably going to start CCDP I've 4 or 5 months before my old BCSI/BCMSN expire and that should give me enough time to get a proper lab in my house...

    But..

CCIP - Finish this in 2011.
    CCDP - 2012
    CCNP Security - 2012
ITILv3 - 2012 to break up the Cisco stuff.

2011 didn't exactly go the way I planned, but I will rectify my laziness!

    2012
    CWSP
    CWAP
    CWDP

And if I still have time I'd love to do Linux+, just for a change.

Edit: Almost forgot my degree program that I will be starting next month!

    2011: Network+ and CCNA

2012: CCNP and then a couple of the following (haven't really decided yet but all on my radar)... CCNA Security, CCDA, CCNA Voice, 70-640, 70-680, 70-642. First off is CCNP ROUTE exam which I'm testing for in February (started studying in August 2011).

Security+ which I'm sitting tomorrow, but I class that as a 2011 goal that just got pushed back.

ITILv3 Foundation, MCITP and CCNA are my main goals for 2012, but I'm going to look into CCNA:S or CCNP and either Juniper or Citrix when I get through those, depending on where I am with a job.

I think you can go farther without driving....
    Ahriakin wrote: »
... I don't drive (never learned, yes shock horror and amazement, guess it's a but of a phobia at this stage) so no getting around....

I'm thinking that's what's holding me back right now, this driving thing. If I wasn't going to the shop today because of my car, could have spent about an hour or two more studying today on my labs :D

Also, if I could shuttle back and forth to work, I could study 20-30 minutes each way ... wow, I really need to re-think this driving thing ...

    Hah, just kidding.

To be perfectly honest, I was a late bloomer on the driving thing, too.

I didn't get a driver's license until I was 25, when I bought my first car. ... and I'm from the country (Mississippi), most people from the country grow up driving :D

My best advice on getting over it is just getting out there on some easy roads, and ALWAYS practicing safe following distance. If you give a good cushion, it helps prevent most issues. You can't prevent bad drivers, just a fact of life. Since I think Ahriakin came to Texas, it's probably not the best place to be developing your driving skills, this place is full of horrible, overly-aggressive drivers in large trucks.

One place I had a phobia of driving through was the I-410 construction, when there were three tight lanes and no shoulder. (If you're in the San Antonio area, you know what I'm talking about.) To make it even worse, they made sure to place the concrete dividers right up against the lanes ...

Driving ... some people take it for granted. In a lot of places (mostly, besides the U.S.) you can really get around everywhere you need to go without bothering to drive a car yourself.

Since I'm getting ready to take over some NetApp storage and will be going to a NetApp class, I guess a NetApp cert will be in my near future... I was working on VCAP, but I don't know if I will ever get time to finish prepping for that.
    IT guy since 12/00

Recent: 11/2019 - RHCSA (RHEL 7); 2/2019 - Updated VCP to 6.5 (just a few days before VMware discontinued the re-cert policy...)
    Working on: RHCE/Ansible
Future: Probably continued Red Hat Immersion, Possibly VCAP Design, or maybe a completely different path. Depends on job demands...

VCP 5 in the next couple of months, then CCNP's Route and Switch exams will finish the year out. If I'm lucky then the Tshoot exam as well.

I've been at a crossroads since passing my CCENT and CompTIA Security+ certs this year. I know working in my current position that I don't want to deal with troubleshooting circuit issues with major ISP's or 3rd party ISP providers anymore.

    2011
Enrolled in MSIS (Masters in Information Security Mgmt)

    This year 2012
    SSCP
    CCSA
    B.S Information Technology Telecommunications
    A.S Network Server Administration
M.S Information Security Management (expected 2014-2015)

I got all Cisco semesters done, finished in 2011.

This year I'm taking the network+, security+ and ccent, maybe squeeze in the ccna as well.

Then try to find a job in the field and work toward CISSP and CCNP.

I love networks. I dropped engineering as a major for it. Got my AAS in computer networking and can't afford school at the moment and I refuse to take out loans, it's just how I am, so until I get my foot in the door with these certifications I can't finish up the bachelors.
