Basic GIAC Question

Can you do the exams for the GIAC courses without going on the training courses they offer?

Yes you can. However the courses and the material they provide you are very helpful when you take the exam. I've gotten the most from taking the courses and listening to what the instructors say.

Yes I assumed doing the courses would help just they seem to be very expensive to do the course.

At $999US an attempt, it's expensive to challenge GIAC certs too. You want to make sure you pass the first time; the companion SANS course material is written for the exam.

UPDATE: Here's the actual link to sign up for a GIAC challenge exam. Apparently, all GIAC exams are challengeable whether they are listed on the GIAC Exam Challenge page or not.
