For your thoughts
Thought you guys might find this interesting. I was tempted to rip them to shreds on their linkedin, but I think we can have reasoned discussion here.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminI think he's referring to the ECC page you posted. I don't see anything on sans.org. I'll have a look in the mailing lists for discussions about it. The claims in the ECC advert are ridiciulous, so I'm sure we already know what the SANS/GIAC community thinks about it.

ipchain Member Posts: 297I believe ECC is just getting back at SANS, to be honest with you. Check this out: https://www.sans.org/course/network-penetration-testing-ethical-hacking and expand 'Why take this course?'. It's been there for as long as I can remember, if memory does not fail me.
I'd never take CEH personally, but I can clearly see what they did there.Every day hurts, the last one kills. -
chaser7783 Member Posts: 154I stopped after reading "The learning objectives of the program aligns with information security education standards such as the DoD 8570, CNSS and NICE framework"
This is just ECC trolling, the Infosec community would agree CEH is not even in the same league as lot of SANS certs. I'm not knocking CEH, it has it's place(intro cert) but just isn't on the same level as SAN certs. -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminOh yes, under the Why Take This Course? link. I wonder what version of the CEH was current that comparison was made. CEHv5 maybe? SANS should update it for CEHv8.

I was talking about the above link .
I too believe that SANS should update it or remove. Just because CEH does it. SANS does not have to do it.Work In Progress - RHCA [ ] Certified Cloud Security Professional [ ] GMON/GWAPT if Work Study is accepted [ ]

SephStorm Member Posts: 1,731 ■■■■■■■□□□well, the SANS version is certainly more accurate than the ECC version.

chanakyajupudi Member Posts: 712Yes. But SANS should not point them out in particular. Maybe say SANS vs Other Starting Level Security Training.Work In Progress - RHCA [ ] Certified Cloud Security Professional [ ] GMON/GWAPT if Work Study is accepted [ ]

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,091 AdminBut this this marketing sniping is a direct comparison between the ECC's CEH course and SANS' pen test course for the GIAC GPEN cert.
