70-410 TechNet & Other Resources

This has been mostly modified from the Microsoft Born To Learn Wiki - they are not identical! Not all of the objectives were covered by that website so I filled in the gaps where I could.
Some things relate to older versions of Windows Server, but they are still relevant or there is not a newer documented alternative. Feel free to make suggestions or add to this thread.

whatthehell Member Posts: 920Awesome awesome thread ---- one question though ---all three books listed received some relatively good feedback, though each with some concerns. Is there one particular book you would recommend to pass the 410?2017 Goals:

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Thanks, I haven't taken 410 yet, I am mainly relying on TechNet, though I will be hitting the books soon which should be a quick read by the looks of things. Having looked through some of the books so far though, the Sybex book looks better than the Exam Ref book which is a lightweight at only 400 pages but the Sybex book is all over the place for objectives which makes it hard to read. I haven't looked at the Training Guide yet. If I was to recommend one book though it would be the Sybex book so far...

velka Registered Users Posts: 3 ■□□□□□□□□□Hi Asif,
Nice effort. Really helpful. One more thing, for hands-on lab and practice, what should I do? I have a laptop with I5 2.3 Ghz process and 4 GB RAM on it. Can virtual box is good enough to install an evaluation copy of windows server2012? if so , then which version I should look into, essential ?
Your help will be much appreciated.

Asif Dasl Member Posts: 2,116 ■■■■■■■■□□Thanks Velka, the evaluation of Server 2012 only gives you Standard & Datacenter so you might as well use Datacenter. 512MB of RAM is the minimum spec for Server 2012 but it'll be slow if you have more than a few running, your client OS is going to need 1GB of RAM. Hopefully you have an SSD to speed thing up a little. Ideally you would have more RAM. VirtualBox is fine for labbing..
