They have mentioned that you will no linger need to supply your own IOS images. I don't know if this means that you then wont be able to use your own though. I really hope they support IOS15 better, I know you can use the 7200vxr image, but be nicer to see some wider support.- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. *Waves* Nice to see you posting on here. I love the beginner MPLS, BGP, and Multicast videos that you've been doing the last few weeks. They've been motivating me to get home early on Monday nights and jump on the chat.

Have you been to any of the routergods meetups lately? I went a couple of times when it was just in it's infancy. It wasn't as organized back then but I see now how much more activity they're making. I'll go a again someday. They make heavy use of GNS3 and with this new GNS3 coming the sessions will be much more powerful.CCIE Wr: In Progress...

The past 3 weeks were my first time attending routergods meetups on Monday nights. It really has been great! I'm trying to make it a consistent thing to do on Mondays. -

I'd argue it's probably WAY more disorganized now... but in a good way.

typfromdaco Member Posts: 96 ■■■□□□□□□□I gave my $25. I really hope that they work out a deal to incorporate the IOS into the software, or at least charge $5 bucks or so for each IOS. I would rather not buy an entire piece of equipment just to get an IOS. They are now up to $116,054!2015 certification goals: [ X] ICND2

I don't think it would impact much because if the gns3 labs or training are that effective they'll just be viewed as another training vendor not so much the end all solution because what one person may like another person may hate. Everyone has there reasons to like one trainer or vendor over another. Also, INE tailored some of there workbooks to work with gns3 so they're not behind on the movement. -

Yep. Been viewing then the last 4 or 5 Mondays. I didn't take as much away from Beginner BGP and Beginner Security since they seemed geared more towards the CCNA-level but Beginner MPLS and Multicast was way fun I was showing my coworker the next day how to set up a mock MPLS network and what show ip mroute did. -
Trifidw Member Posts: 281Also dipped in for the $25 premium package (despite not having used the program much in the past). Was worth it for working out how to fix a problem where I could only get 5 minutes of downtime in the early morning to try only 1 thing and then had to revert back straight away if it didn't work!
Can I suggest this is moved off topic to get more traffic? -
Dieg0M Member Posts: 861Got the premium access. A bunch of the engineers at work don't use GNS3 but I believe with the switching implementation it will become more popular. We have a bunch of 6500's laying around that we can lab with so gear isn't a real problem here but I find GNS3 much faster to test solutions.Follow my CCDE journey at www.routingnull0.com

JockVSJock Member Posts: 1,118Just kicked in $25.00 because I think what they do is worthy. I really like the software, in addition it works with Wireshark, which is awesome.

New GNS3 | FAQ - GNS3
It answers the question about switching. It will be provided via L2IOU, so it won't include all the features you get from a physical switch.
Just like switching, the newer routers will be supported via the virtual images that you can get from the vendor.
GNS3's focus is on R&S and Security, so those are the main things that they're trying to support right now.
Hope this helps.Currently Working: CCIE R&S

spiderjericho Registered Users, Member Posts: 896 ■■■■■□□□□□Seems like they're incorporating IOL and through cloud or virtual box connections allow CSRv, Arista and IOSXR.
Despite funding it, I still see CML/VIRL being the go to tool for Cisco studying (in a few years once they figure out the licensing and add IOSXE switching, it already has Nexus 1000v).
But GNS3 seems to be a tool that can incorporate other software tools. -
DevilWAH Member Posts: 2,997 ■■■■■■■■□□I will all depend how accessible the CML is. If like CISCO packet tracer you have to be part of the academy and it is going to costs you $400, compared to GNS3 being free.
Then People will still use GNS3 as while it might not have 100% of the features it is much more flexible in dealing with integrating non CISCO devices in to a network. CISCO have had good emulation tools for in house use for many years, it just depends how much they want to let them out in to the wild or keep for the selected few and there trainers.
I am just interested to see if GNS3 can really pull of all there goals. Even with a few full time developers its always the way that 90% of the work takes 10% of the time. its the finally polishing that takes the other 90%. I would say of the past 5+ years GNS3 really have built a solid foundation. how nicely they can polish it and make it straight forward to use will be the key to if it remains a useful tool in the future. Lets hope they get some developers that are really keen to push the boundaries and take it to the point where it is the tool of choice for all vendor study and labbing. Not just a CISCO tool.- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. Albert Einstein

spiderjericho Registered Users, Member Posts: 896 ■■■■■□□□□□Devil, lol, lucky for me I'm an Academy instructor. It would be nice if they replace Packet Tracer for CML.
But right now Cisco is holding all of the cards. Just like Juniper with the Junosphere.
They need to understand that these tools allow a greater number of evangelists and ensures their place in the marketplace. -
stryder144 Member Posts: 1,684 ■■■■■■■■□□Just went over to the GNS3 website. They surpassed $250,000 today. Now they will put out the Genius GNS3 Training package. 725% funded. Unbelievable. Yeah.... I call that an excellent ROI -

Almost makes me sorry I spent £1500 ($2.5K?) on actual equipment. -

I agree. $25 for the ability to do switching for mostly a CCIE level? Heck even at CCNP level that beats finding real equipment off ebay to use and my wife wont be mad about hearing the WIIIIRRRRR of the fans :P -
Binaryhero Member Posts: 29 ■□□□□□□□□□So when you chip in, when can you acctually start using it?
I heard it still wont be available until next year even if you pay up now -
DoubleNNs Member Posts: 2,015 ■■■■■□□□□□I believe contributors will get an early release copy in Feb 2014, and then from there on will get access to features as they become available. Their goal is to release the full version at about this time next year.Goals for 2018:
