VMware Fast Track Lab

Im booked on to the VMware vSphere: Fast Track v6.0 course in March. I want to prepare myself and also begin to study towards VCP6-DCV. What spec home lab pc will I need to practice everything to pass the course. I have been looking at the Apple Mac Mini i7 or intel NUC i7. Would this be enough or would i need full case with multiple network cards.

That's overkill. If you are in the UK go to carbohydrate.co.uk and spec up a T5500 ... You got like 2-3 for the saMe price

Not sure if you are aware.

vSphere is only supported on certain hardware. You may have problems getting it to recognize your home PC SATA disk and network card, and will need to customize your install ISO. Google for the steps.

If you are not set on getting physical hardware, nested virtualization is an option. I strongly suggest using a big SSD (512GB+) and lots of RAM (32GB+).

I am using nested virtualization with no problems on a home-built PC.

Thanks I was going to go down this route but the pc I have at present wont take that much RAM

Thanks i know i might need to inject drivers into custom iso to get some bits to work with vSphere.

It seems that that site is no longer functional. It's a shame as I was curious to know what sort of prices the T5500's would be available for.
