CCNA --> VCP-NV - Has anyone done this?

Just floating this out there to hear from anyone has successfully completed this path?

From a monetary standpoint this seems like my best option. I don't think I would ever have an issue getting my employer to pay for the VCP exams, but the class is a different story and that's always been my biggest hangup on achieving the VCP, even though my primary focus IS VMware.

Although I'd like to focus on DCV, a VCP is a VCP is a VCP so I'm not too hung up on that.

I'm no networking expert by any means but I'm confident I could learn the material pass the exam and complete my VCP before January 2016.

TLDR: Can anyone give me some feedback on this path?

There are low cost class options available. Multiple threads on this forums regarding this option.

Based on my research nothing really near my location. I've also put myself on the waiting list for Stanley with no success a couple times.

It's actually less about the $ and more about the time commitment for class.

The CCNA (or higher) path to VCP6-NV without having to take NSX training is available indefinitely now.

That's not to say a CCNA could just walk in and pass the exams, plenty of prep needed to pass them - check Path 2 on this page and follow the links for the exams to understand what you'll be tested on: https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=64294&ui=www_cert
