VCP-DCV 550 Passing Score?

Hi everyone,

I'm about to take the exam and am a bit confused as to what the passing score is. I know its 300 or more out of 500, and that it's weighted, but if you had to say a % what would it be? Should I be shooting for say 85%?

Scoring is between 100 and 500, with 300 or more being a pass.

It's very hard to put a % against, but I'd feel comfortable if I was getting 85% on mock exams for example.

Agree with scott, considering they are weighted it's tough to say. I'd go with 80%.

    Good luck!

Unless I'm mistaken, looking for an exact percentage is a bit meaningless due to the fact that some questions might be weighted more than others along with unscored beta questions which is why a points system is used and not a percentage of correctly answered questions system.

Not yet. I'd expect any announcement to appear here first: VMware Education and Certification Blog - - VMware Blogs

All scored questions count the same. Regardless of topic or number of choices (1 of 4, 2 of 4, 3 of 5) each is worth one point.

Here's a good post from Josh Andrews - he works on the Certification team: http://sostechblog.com/2014/02/13/300-out-of-500-what-is-a-passing-score/

    Thanks Guys,

    I passed today :)
Exam was actually a "bit" easier than expected. Lots of storage and networking questions, plus questions on some of the more quirky stuff (hope thats not saying too much). Marathon of an exam though! I think I just wound myself up too much as I've studied for months for it, drove the Wife mad!

Once query, it's not showing up on my VMWare account, the Stany Course I took, or the exam, so I cant download my cert etc. Anyone any idea why, does it take a while? Pearson Vue website shows I've passed, but nothing on the VMWare site.

    Congrats!

Your course won't show against your VMware account, as Stanly (and other VITAs) don't "push" your attendance to VMware.

But, your exam pass and certification will appear - give it a couple of days, check again, and if it hasn't appeared by then you can email certification@vmware.com

    Thanks Scott,

Its just come through. Just one more question.

Should I go on to do the delta 550-6 exam? I cant imagine there'd be a huge amount of extra studying/labbing to do?

Have a read of the objectives, that should help you answer that question relative to your own knowledge: https://mylearn.vmware.com/mgrReg/plan.cfm?plan=64181&ui=www_cert
