SANS Dallas 2017 Accepted!

TacoRocketTacoRocket Member Posts: 497 ■■■■□□□□□□
It seems that SANS loves me to do work studies in Dallas. I will be facilitating the SEC511 course and hope to finish the GMON faster than what it took me to finish the GCIH.

If any of you are going lets grab lunch!

Can you share what requirements or attributes might have led them to select you guys for work study?

I'm hoping to study for some of them but if I can save my GI Bill for something else, I would rather do that

First of all, the GI Bill can't be used for these boot camps or any bootcamp for that matter and second of all I have no idea, I'm local?

GI Bill can be used for SOME of these certs if they're part of the graduate certificates or the Master's offered by the SANS Technology Institute, and only for the courses offered in Baltimore.

That's what they say on their application. I've never had SANS give 4-6 weeks notice. They wanted San Antonio last year and gave the friday before it started. I got moved to Dallas for that year too.

The process is random. I was still building my skills in security when I was selected for Dallas 2016 last year. If it will be your first don't expect the big events they hold. Still apply but they usually want first timers to do city ones/community before regional and summits.

Thanks! I think so as well. For the timing of what I do at work I look forward to this. My employer has some other classes in mind later but this will be a good jump start!
Nice! Congrats! looks like an interesting course
