70-411 TechNet & Other Resources

This has been mostly modified from the Microsoft Born To Learn Wiki - they are not identical! Not all of the objectives were covered by that website so I filled in the gaps where I could.

Some things relate to older versions of Windows Server, but they are still relevant or there is not a newer documented alternative. Feel free to make suggestions or add to this thread.

None of the exam providers are on R2 yet (I just checked the links above), it might be a few more weeks before they do..

Getting so frustrated with Microsoft realising exams with no books in place or mock exams. I have never seen such a mess in all my life..

I know, it's a mess alright, the books are 12 months late. Everybody is buying the Exam Ref when they recommend using the Training Guides first! And they don't tell anybody! At least label the books properly i.e. Book 1 of 2 or something! I thought they might have learned how to release books properly after the Server 2008 R2 exams were released with no corresponding books! Oh well, what can you do...

is there anyway i can check when measure up tests have been updated i keep checking but not sure what to look for please?

MCSA Windows Server 2012

On the page you should be looking for R2 after Windows Server 2012 - they only list "Windows Server 2012" so they are not R2 yet. You could email them also and see when they have an update planned - it should be soon.

The R2 updates for practice exam 70-410 were released on 01-22-2014. Now the updates for 70-411 and 70-412 are estimated to be released in that order within the next 2 months. We hope this information was helpful.hanks asif here is their response

There are many powershell cmdlets tested. I should know, I failed it twice (latest was 606

) because of them...some of them are similar enough to be confused with each other (at least for me). I say the GPO ones caused me to fail because of the print out. I was 50% lowest to about 90% for each category. The 50% was the GPO section. For other exams I've taken in the past, the percentages I had would have been a 700 or higher. My best guess is that the GPO questions are weighted higher than the rest and are worth more points so it would be best to get them all right.

Bump - Thanks for this topic.

Just started preparing for 70-411 today. Very handy to know that NAP and GPO are the hardest sections. Incidentally, these are not my strengths. At work, we have very specific way of creating and applying GPO - We only use computer based policies and the way we apply them results in high amount of predictability.

Guess I will be looking at our production NPS (it's on 2008, but hope there isn't much change in 2012), VPN and trying out some crazy GPO stuff in the next few days.

CBTNuggets let me down for the 70-411 (I'm not James Conrad's biggest fan), pushing this thread up due to the useful information contained.

This exam really knocked me back, I admin 100s of servers and couldn't really relate to any of the questions on the test. The 70-410 and 74-409 were a cinch in comparison! I'm under some pressure to pass this month (mainly from myself) as our partner renewal is due - all waiting on me!
