Wow, Microsoft really is not kidding around. Server 2016 barely had time to get to know the world.

I heard this in the Windows Weekly Podcast, i was thinking WTF, Server 2016 has had less time than Server 2012. We haven't even had Server 2016 R2 and Server 2019 is due for October 2018.

Microsoft will not be releasing R2versions any longer.

With this new version, will it make MCSA 2016 irrelevant? Or you have an option to exam upgrade to Server 2019?

Microsoft used to release desktop and server OS together; 7 with 2008 R2, 8 with 2012, 8.1 with 2012 R2, 10 with 2016. Will there be a Windows 11 with 2019?

With Windows 10 having regular updates, isnt Windows server supposed to have a semi-annual release?
We just had Windows Server version 1709? Are they going to rename it to 2016 R2? Are we still getting Server version 1803?

I guess we will get an upgrade exam about 18 months after release of 2019, going by the history.

I am abit annoyed as I am halfway through my MCSA Server 2016, dont want to drop it and wait for Server 2019.

Yes. Windows Server 2016 RS4 = SAC 1803
Windows Server 2016 RS5 = LTSC "Windows Server 2019"

I guess the 74x MCSA exams will simply be upgraded with the new 2019 topics like updated HCI and container features. There is no point to wait for new exams. As an example - Windows 10 and Office 365 exams are constantly updating instead of new exams being released

Sorry for gpoing off the topic. I cleared 70-410 (Server 2012) few weeks back and currently working on 70-411 & 70-412. Does it make sense to chase
MCSA 2012 where Microsoft gonna release Server 2019 probably by next year?

I think it wouldn't matter...Most businesses haven't totally upgraded to 2012 or 2016 for that matter...Having 2012 certs would only benefit you IMO.

From what I found, you can take 1 exam instead of 3 if you are already MCSA.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/learning/exam-70-743.aspx - so they will probably have it for the 2019 track too.

Carry on, Server 2012 end of life support ends 10/10/2023. You still have plenty of time then do an 2019 upgrade exam after.

Still at least 2 years away from any Server 2019 exams hitting the cert boards.
