Transcender, CCENT and going to far...

Hi guys, I have a few questions regarding the Transcender practice tests and the CCENT. I just purchased the exam packs and have done well on them. The only questions I've had trouble with are in regards to stuff that hasn't been in Wendall Odom's CCENT book. For example, there were a few questions regarding configuring the default-network command, configure IGRP and OSPF, and a few questions about RIP authentication.

I'm not looking at getting anybody to tell me what's on the test because that would violate the NDA, so if this question violates that I'll understand. That being said, are the above mentioned stuff things that are relegated to learning now or on the second test.

I'm tremendously motivated to pass this test and get some momentum going so if I have to learn them I will, but I've studied Odom's book cover-to-cover about five times and haven't seen this mentioned.

As always, any help is appreciated.

OSPF and IGRP are not on the topic list for ICND1, so I wouldn't worry too much about them.

Thanks mead...that's what I figured. I really thought I had followed the exam objectives to a t! When I saw those questions, I thought I was going crazy.

I get some of those on my practice exams too (SelfTest & Boson). I think they just tried to split their CCNA questions up when the CCENT became available and got some on there that shouldn't be.

I'm not so upset with them now that I passed though icon_lol.gif

I still think they were good overall, but they could have been a lot better for sure.

There was a sim I kept failing. I thought it was something I was doing with the commands. They specifically asked you to use the first two addresses from the first subnet on the 192.168.1.0 network with a mask of 255.255.255.248. Stupid me, I used 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2. Apparently, I was supposed to use 192.168.1.9 and 192.168.1.10. WTF.

Uggh...Transcender and SelfTest must share questions now that their owned by the same company. This one frustrated me too. You can even do a show run and the router specifically has ip subnet-zero enabled.

I'm really confident in my studies and preparation for next week's exam. Most of the questions that I've been missing I can link to being outside the scope of the objectives. Oh well, I'll have to look into something else for the second exam. Thanks guys.
