skrpune wrote: » Oh, yeah - I'm stubborn like that! I did end up getting through, and I'm scheduled for Monday the 18th 9am. I'm really glad that I got a spot...now to really get started on the preparations! I've got a lot to study for now: programming (java) final on May 2nd, discrete math final on May 7th, Windows 7 exam on May 18th, and my 70-290 exam on May 27th. I know what I'll be doing for the next month: lots of and little of (with some thrown in for mood adjustment!).

The registration website wasn't showing me the calendar so I thought it was just an "overnight maintenance" issue until I had waited a couple hours and it still didn't work. Then I tried to register for a different exam at which point I sh*t bricks and realized the voucher was ALREADY used up. Lulz...

I already put in HOURS to create a full environment to prepare for the exam... Got three server here with 2008 R2 and Windows 7 - now I lost interest for now
colebert wrote: » Yeah, I've already seen the MS blog that announced the beta. It is getting trolled really hard by all the jilted testers. Should have seen this coming... open registration for a free exam at midnight EST which just happens to be noon in Asia. DOH!

Claymoore wrote: » I didn't get in either. +1 I also like Gomjaba's idea of a special code for partners. My problem with opening the beta to a bunch of non-certified tards without any experience is that it can skew the strength of the questions. If a question's pass/fail ratio determines whether or not it makes it into the final pool then we risk watering down the exam becasue a bunch of people wanted to take a flyer on a free exam.

skrpune wrote: » I can understand that there are a lot of disappointed folks because the exam free spots filled up so quickly, but MAN are there a lot of bad attitudes and snobby comments flying around the interwebs today! Look, I know it's sucky for those who were really looking forward to taking the beta to not be able to get in on it for free, but (at least in my opinion) there's no reason to be saying that only those with xyz certifications or memberships or whatever should be allowed to take Betas. How does Microsoft get valid feedback if they just open up an exam to a select few people who are not a true representation of those who are interested in the exam anyway? They may even get better feedback from a wider audience like this. I'm thrilled to be able to be part of the beta exam process for the first time, and contrary to what's being said about those of us who *did* get a free seat, I'm not some idiot who's just taking an exam because it's free and who's going to tank on it (or at least I hope) and skew the feedback. The free part doesn't hurt of course, but I am excited about Windows 7 and about being a part of the beta process, and I'm going to take this seriously. There are some harsh judgements being made about the non-advanced cert-holders and non-technet members (like me) who are taking this exam. I think everyone needs to just chill and try to play nice. Just my two cents.
