WSUS question

I'm in the process of studying for my 290, I'm at the point of installing and configuring a WSUS server.
I have installed and configured the necessary settings, I am however! unable to use the web base console.
I have IIS installed as well.
Typically, what would be the correct URL to input to gain access to the administration console?
Or am I missing any other steps.

Which version of WSUS? WSUS 3 (the latest download) doesn't have a web console but uses an MMC console instead.

Ah!! I did not know that. I think the MS book needs to be updated then. That is the version I am using.
So all I would need is that then!

Correct, that is all you would need.

I run a WSUS at work and we use it for the obvious reason of minimising the amount of data that comes across the line from Australia to Papua New Guinea as a large chunk of it (37%) consists of windows updates. The MMC is extremely easy to use and you shouldn't run into many problems apart from the installation steps.

Tell us how it goes, I am studying for the same exam. When are you sitting it?

Hey David,

I'm almost done reading the MS book which is now my second reading material. I'm hoping by early June.
I now have the WSUS working, it gathers the classifications of my choosing. ( I think I made the correct changes in the GPO).
However! on my WSUS it does not see my client laptop. It only picks up the server. Is this because I have client targeting enabled?
The firewall on the client side is off if that makes a difference.
