switch 1924 problem

Hi,
To complete my CCNA and CCNp certification , I have bought some routers and switches as follow
2x1924
2x2501
2x1603
1x2620
1x2924
The problem i have is with one of the 1924 switch which whenever i reset it all of the configuration for vtp and vlan will be deleted
I have updates the cat os to v 9.0.7 which i think is the latest verion and i am having no problem with my other 1924 switch .
Any idea what it could be ?
And also could you please advice me about what other router and switch i would need to buy to support me all the way to CCIE.

There is a workaround but notice the date October 12, 2000. Not gonna make it through CCIE not even CCNP with these. I'd get a few 2950's at least for the NP track.

do u mean that the switch cant support ccnp or my routers as well?
i have one 2924 ,what about this one ?
is there a major diffrence between 2924 and 2950 ?
or shall i just buy one 3550 which support layer 3 switching ?
do u think my routers can take me all the wa to CCIE

The difference is that the 2924s with 4Mb memory is no good as doesn't support a lot of stuff. The 2924 with 8MB memory with the 8 meg IOS uses the Vlan database and cisco is fazing it out. Get at least 2, best 3 2950s - they cheap enough now

the 1924 are really worthless, I have a couple in the loft. CAT OS not supported, just IOS for CCNA

Those routers are even good enough to get you through CCNA never mind CCIE.

No good now but before you part with cash always do your home work on what kit to buy!

Be aware that there are differences in some of the commands on the 2900XL series of switches. Buy 2950s at a minimum. There are plenty of other threads in this forum which detail the differences between 2900XL and 2950 switches. Use the search function to find them.

Considering you don't have a CCNA yet, you may want to hold off on buying equipment suitable for a CCIE.

sorry didn't see the 2620

2620 ok for CCNA

25xx can get by if install at least 12.2/3 - CCNA uses 12.4

I would get 26xx xm's for CCNA, then can upgrade for CCNP
