CCNA Voice Lab Considerations...

Hi TE,

Now I know that this has been asked time and time again on different posts. I've read through all of the ones I could find. From my research, I've compiled a list of equipment that I'm looking to purchase. I currently have 3 2610 routers, 2 2924 switches, and a 2950. I am looking to get rid of all of this equipment to pursue a Voice/CCNP Lab.

I have access to VoIP phones (7906, 7911, 7961, & 7971) from work.

Router considerations: 1760, 2611xm, and 2691??? Which would be best? I know I would have to purchase more than 1, so I'm looking for any opinions on cost efficiency. Most labs I've seen for the voice consist of a combination of the afore mentioned routers. My next question is: will these routers be sufficient for the CCNP & CCVP tracks as well? Should I hang on to the 2610s to pursue the CCNP?

Switches, I'll probably go with 2950s since the inline power switches are still fairly expensive.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have a UC520 -- or access to one at work -- a couple of us have mentioned the 2650XM & 2651XM (with AIM-CUE) for the CCNA:Voice.

For the CCVP, you can check out the lab threads in the CCVP FAQ. 1760 or 2600XM routers should be fine for CCNP/CCVP. I haven't seen a 2691 cheap enough yet to want to buy it.

Mike, what should we expect to pay for the lowest-end UC520? Do you know any partners that might be able to get a deal for me?

I curretly am in the same boat have 3 2610 2 x 2950 studying for CCNA but want to get my lab upto date for CCNA voice! My question is would a 2620XM or 2621XM with the CM4.0 be ok? Also what is the difference between the 2?

26??XM - First ? = Performance, Second ? = Number of built in FE ports - 1

2620XM = 1 FE port
2621XM = 2 FE ports

7940/7940G and 7960/7960G. The G model is just a minor hardware update and not important whether it has it or not.
