VMware as a Cisco lab?
hhasund
Hi,
I've see some posts mentioning VMware as an option when building a certification lab. I have access to a Vsphere Enterpise plus environment where I can pretty much do whatever I want, so this seems like a very interesting thing to do.
I have tried to find information about this on the net, without any luck. Can anybody give me som tips?

I have used dynamips to interface with VMWare, to run hosts/servers through routers, etc. It's worked pretty well. I setup a pen-testing lab a while ago with VMWare Server, which was pretty slick..it's definitely a viable option as far as running virtual hosts/servers. I don't know how much CCSP prep you could do with it...although you could look into PEMU for virtual firewall setups.

This has some VMware stuff in it:
CCIE Security Home Lab with dynamips - Internetworkpro
I haven't gone through any of that, just had it in my bookmarks.

IPS, NAC, and MARS can also be run within VMWare.

Mikej412,
Do you have any links to the stuff you mention?
It almost sounds too good to be true...

Nope.
If you have the software and Google you should be able to figure it out.
