Choosing the proper route:

Can the IP address 172.16.10.1 accept a route of 172.16.0.0/22?

The 172.16.0.0/22 range of addresses that the above IP would fit into is:
172.16.8.1 - 172.16.11.254

Why is the practice question saying that is not a correct route?

Need to see the entire question, something might be in the context. 172.16.0.0 comprises all ip's between 172.16.0.1 to 172.16.3.254, so the router should be able to accept that route advertisement from a neighbor, but we can't tell you why the question says it's wrong, or if the question itself is wrong without seeing the question

But he's apparently got a question that's telling him otherwise. That's why I want to see the entire question.

Yeh, the router could be running a classful routing protocol, such as RIPv1, need to see the Q.
