Tshoot beta - the deed is done

Hey everyone,

I just got back from taking the 150 minute TSHOOT Beta exam. I can say it is pretty interesting. I'm not sure what type of information I can give. But, all I can say for those of you that are going to take it is know "everything" of routing and switching, layer 1, 2, 3. Study up on every single thing that you did for BSCI and BCMSN if you have done them. TSHOOT definitely tests your abilities. I'm excited to see the scores when they come.

Yeah, I would say so. I didn't do the ROUTE OR SWITCH track, but, I would say it really tests materials learned from BSCI and BCMSN. I'm not going to list anything specific because of NDA.

Yes! If I pass this I have the CCNP. Either way, I'm still going through the ONT and ISCW books. I am actually going to take the ONT before I get my results of the TSHOOT. Just in case I "wouldn't" pass, that way I only have to do the ISCW before the deadline. So, I gotta enjoy my wait to see what happens from here :P

Im study and practice hard to be ready in 26 March to make the TShoot. Its my first test in the ccnp track. I ve few options to pass but lets see, maybe i have luck.

I buy the new book of cert guide and the cert flash, any advises.

So you don't get a pass/fail immediately after finishing a CCNP level test?? Any idea how long it takes or why they do it that way? I haven't seen any info related to that yet but am very curious. Good luck with your results!

I believe this is only because this is a beta exam. Normally you get the results right away.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks! I think having to wait for a test score would just be excruciating for me.

Good luck man. I have to say though that the thought of revisiting BSCI makes me cringe. The material is fine, the test was hellish.

Interested to see the questions and relate the experience back to when I sat all four CCNP exams...

I didn't think you got specific test scores for Beta exams... you pretty much just get told whether you passed or failed a few months down the track.. no such broken-down specifics based on topics as in the actual released exam.

That's what usually would occur when I sat Beta exams for Microsoft....

I was thinking the same thing. I would hate waiting on that exam...

No you have to wait because it is a beta exam. They say 8 - 12 weeks after the closing of testing. The project date of Cisco is April 30, 2010 for the results.

Yes, the wait SUCKS! It is driving me literally insane to be honest, not knowing whether I passed or failed. I can't wait to get my results lol.

i've got mine monday, do you get any chance for feedback in it? for example i've done the practice cisco have up but it will say "what option will fix the porblem?" on the final q but not let you into config mode to fix it. so although i think i got it right (and it turns out i did

) theres absolutly no way to check?

at least the old sims used to let you ping etc afterwards to check it. now back to the books

i'm not sure that would not work, as you could just go back and try a different combination of answers if it did not work, and then each time click test until it works.

I don't really know what I can say without violating NDA. But, all I can say is know how to identify which device is causing a problem, which layer the problem exists at (1, 2, 3), including the technology at that layer, and in addition to that, know "mentally" how to fix the problem. I'm not going into any more detail than that. Good luck on your exam, I wish you the best of luck, now you get to be added to the list of being driven crazy waiting on results. lol.

I'm assuming the know 'mentally' how to fix things means that you can't actually fix the problem yourself. It was one of the things I noted in the Demo I posted links for, you had to be able to find where the problem was, but you couldn't actually fix it yourself, it fixed it automatically after you answered, which is when I verified my answer

If the actual exam is anything close to the cisco demo or the level of the ccie troubleshooting section, I'd say it'd be a pretty challenging exam.

You are correct with your statement, as far as knowing how to identify where the problem is and what it will take to fix the problem. But, like you said in the demo, it fixed it based on your answer.

if you guys haven't already, check out Cisco's simulation they have on the learning network site. It shows you exactly how the sims are going to be

3 part questions.
A. What device is the problem on?
B. What technology does the problem relate to?
C. What config command(s) would you do to fix it?

and the sim they put up was very fun. It has 4 trouble tickets to do.

Oh yeah, I take my TSHOOT beta next week, 3-24-10 can't wait!! The cisco press book is in the mail and I'm watching the Cisco 360 learning CCIE R&S troubleshooting video set
