Yes, a candidate can ONLY prep for one exam at a time by utilizing the various training materials on the market...and then will only be (in theory) knowledgeable in that one discipline. With each additional exam one prepares for, they then gain the understanding for the additional components that are required to be MCITP certified. You'll need 70-640 70-642 70-646 Either self-study or course study is fine...just depends on your study methods and how much money you have to invest in becoming certified. If you are motivated, I don't see a reason why you need the classes, simply invest in a couple books and utilize a lab or your experience to prepare. If you have limited access to hardware and need to ask questions where someone else answers (rather then look it up on your own) then take a course.
