Which book to get for Security+?

I was looking on AMAZON.com for a Security+ study book. I found this one based on user reviews:

I used only that book and passed easily. You may also want to search around for some practice exams/questions.

I just ordered it from Amazon. No Borders bookstore within 50 miles from my house had it!

He self published it so it may be hard to find at any bookstores.
If you want Video training I highly recommend testout/Labsim.

reading that right now. it's deserves all the stars it has. i've read through 4 chapters in half a day (helps that a lot of the information builds upon the other comptia exams and their objectives)... very easy to read, principle are covered thoroughly with no bull. go for it!

Does it build upon Network+? Is it the next logical exam to take after taking Network+ and A+?

Y-E-S. I'm reading Gibson's book now on my Kindle and if you have done A+/Net+ (or have equivalent knowledge), Security+ would definitely be the next exam. From the reviews I read on Amazon, plus here, you cannot go wrong with it. I believe if you read just that book PLUS find some good practice exams like Transcenders (which helped me pass Net+ and A+), you will pass first time.

yes, absolutely. the sec+ goes in depth where the a+ only brushes and the net+ goes deeper into. the sec+ is basically the security portion of the net+ exam. it's definitely the next logical step after net+. i'm taking them back to back as i have just completed my study period for net+ and i wanted a solid foundation on the security principles.

edit: just finished the book. took me 2 days. it's THAT good
