64bit chip can't run 64bit Virtual OS?

I have a 3.4ghz Pentium D 64bit chip... but it doesn't support VT technology. Therefore I cannot install Server Enterprise 64bit on it!

Couple Questions:

-If I buy a chip that does, say a dual or quadcore intel does my motherboard also have to support VT/Virtual Instructions? I have an asus p5rd2-vm which has a horrid feature set, it wont even let me use my full 4gb ram.
-Server 2008 Enterprise is only 64bit correct?
-Is it only VMware Server or is there no way I can run Enterprise 64bit virtually using this chip w/o VT instruction?

Also what would be a could LGA775 chip to replace it if needed?

I have a Pentium D also. My mobo is worse than yours, it wont support over 2GB..period.
Are you sure you're not using Server 2k8 R2? I have Server 2k8 enterprise and it's 32 bit and runs fine on my machine.
I think your MOBO has to support VT also

There is an 2008 Enterprise R2 32-bit? I thought it was 64bit only? My company has microsoft actionpack and it only shows 64bit available to download.

For standard I can pick, maybe this is a limitation of the actionpack, Wouldnt surprise me.

exch >= 2k7 is 64bit only unless you plan on doing 2k3....

server 2k8 R2 is 64 bit, server 2k8 is 32 bit

Just checked out MSDN, what is available on there is 2008 32/64, 2008 web 32/64, and 2008 r2 64.

Here is a chip that will be compliant with 64bit requirements and VT. It is also LGA775 chipset compatible.
