Application Partition / Naming Context Backup

Are Application Partitions stored in Active Directory? Are they backed up with the system state? Can they be restored with the system state?

Yep. Systemstate on an DC backs up AD. Something very important to do because then you can use that to restore a user account that was deleted by mistake or something like that.

I was referring to the importance of backing up AD for the Domain partition which does store the user accounts. I misread your post, sorry.

This lists Active Directory (NTDS) as one of the things that is backed up. It doesn't specify that only part of the file is backed up, so it must all be in there.
