Boot to cd esx3.5

hey guys I am a moron
I forgot how to boot into a vm once made with the Infrastructure client.
I believe we have 2.5 version.

I did this:

1. made vm
2. set the option on boot up to boot into BIOS set boot sequence
to boot to CD/ROM first then hard drive.
pressed F10 to save
3. boots to virtual network card hit ctrl C breaks
then says "no operating system found"

I remember hitting F12 or something to get me to boot from CD after this.
what am I missing it is something easy. I know what I did was right. I even set the delay to like 10,000 miliseconds.

what am I doing wrong? or missing I just want to boot into the cd so I can create the OS portion of the vm I know it is some key to boot like F12 or something isnt it? how far am I off guys!?

you mean the cdrom right. i just click fast on the cdrom connection button. is there and edited setting? i need to hit. I just made the delay longer hoping it would boot into it once I set the bios to boot first to cdrom? i have never had issues before on other versions of vmware but i just did this like 2 months ago and i remember having to hit some key to get into booting from cd in additon to what i mentioned?

If you set the CD-ROM to the highest boot priority in the VM BIOS, it should boot to the CD-ROM, assuming the disk or ISO is bootable and properly attached. Is the VM CD/DVD Drive configured to "Connect at power on", as per the attached screenshot?

menthol moose do I have to use an ISO and is it faster?
so I convert say a windows xp sp2 cd to an ios and then
i config it like you have it and then it will boot to the iso?

so installing from cd scratch is no good. I am next to the machine anyways and can pop the xp cd into the drive. cant i just boot to the cd. How do I boot to cd not an iso image?

I am sure it is some key that allows me to focus on floppy boot? I amtrying to boot to cd only right now..

Select "Host Device" in the image Menthol posted and choose the cd-rom drive of the ESX host.

thanks I did do that and nothing but as soon as I check Client
and put the CD in the client machine with the Infrast. program on it
booted right into CD. I know I booted from the esx server before.
when I do I will explain what I did. I had to boot to cd a while back to crack
a windows 2003 server password which my fired boss didnt tell me what the password was and we needed to get in thanks guys!

what I did is resort to the Iso and and had to add a floppy driver
for the scsi drive and it works great.

i sware I could boot to the cd rom at one time and it worked fine

Start the Guest VM and connect the cdrom drive. It will report "No OS Found" even after you have connected the device. With the VM still powered on send "ctrl-alt-insert" and the VM will try to boot again, this time the drive is already associated, and the disk is found. ...This is what works for me anyways...
