Where did you get the enclosed rack?
Are you talking about this one:
If so, believe it or not its one of the Wall Mount Units, I just took the wall mount part off and use it as a floor mount unit and printer stand.
the name/brand is: Middle Atlantic EWR-8-17
I got it from a friend, who had it sitting in his back yard 'still new in the box' albeit, the box was ruined and the unit needed a complete wipe down as it had started to get that chalky effect that things that are left in the elements to long sometimes get. Thank goodness for powered coating!
The other super nice thing, I got it for 20$As a little side note that server rack has a little over 20Terabytes of personal storage in it.Z3r0

Considering its on ebay for 180 + 60 shipping, all I have to say is lucky bastard.
I have had good luck with CraigsList for that type of thing, I just got an Intellinet Wall-mount Rack 18U for a buddy for 100.oo$ its like new.
The funny thing with the wall-mount units is that most people think you have to put it on the wall, but they make great floor mounted units. The only problem as a general rule, is that they are NOT 30"'s deep.Z3r0

Never could keep the hands steady, to much coffee, but there's the spaghetti mess and most of the lab. The servers are below the 8 port lower patch panel. That old 2514 is being replaced with another 2610XM. The 3rd 2950 and second 1760 is above the 1760 along with another 8 port patch panel. [crappy cell phone couldn't get em in]. I will say, that old 2511 was the best investment made in the beginning, besides the 7' relay rack. I use the 3640 for a bunch of roles. Right now it's simply NAT stub router to the Internet, but use it to run CME as a remote site off the 1760s. [note: just did a reload on the 1760 when I took the pic so the FXS and FXO ports show amber in case anyone wonders] -

Dude, you take my replies way too literally. Nice rack by the way.
Yes, it would seem so, it also seems that we are at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Clearly you are of the more artistic type "on a fretboard" were I am a straight engineer all day everyday "having a BS in Mech Eng."
But is it not what life is about to have all kinds?Z3r0

I have starting to build a rack at home now. I don't think work realise that at work the test racks 2509 access server, and most of the routers all belong to me.. In fact some of the live network stuff belongs to me as well! wonder how long before they notice when I take it all out
All I need is to get hold of 2 or 3 3550's and I will be good to go.- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. Albert Einstein

I did not like the way the 5/6' power cords fit in my rack, I had to bundle them all up at the bottom and it was a mess!
This first picture is the mess that came off the LAB RACK
I replaced it with these 18" and 36" cords:
So here is what the final power cord hook-up looks like, notice that it has no doubling back of the cords everything runs straight and plugs directly in:

Somebody obviously has a lot of time on their hands. You should be spending that time studying instead of rearranging power cords. No longer work in IT. Play around with stuff sometimes still and fix stuff for friends and relatives. -

(Skeletek, Old Vaio Laptop, 2 x 2950s, 3550 EMI, 3 x 2620 XMs)
Definitely not as clean as a lot of your setups, but I'm pleased with it so far. -

Well I have just had to walk away from my trusty lableaving it all behind now I have left the company..
All I have is a poor lonely 2509 terminal server that I decided to save (a few other bits of the lab belonged to me but I thought I would leave them behind for others to play with.
My new company has a lot of lab equipment they have told me I will have access to, (remotely as well). So I am going to wait untill I have moved in to the new house to start rebuilding at home.
I have it planned thoughI am thinking my next lab will be a hybrid lab uterlising GNS 3 for much of the routing, leaving more money for getting some decent switches.

Top to bottom:
Pix 506e
2501
2501
2610
2610XM
2611XM
2950T x3
Got the 2610XM for $65 shipped, and the 2950T's for $55/ea shipped from Ebay. Paid $275 for the rest (rack included!!!) in a sweet CL deal. After brackets and misc junk I'm about $550 into it but still have WICs and some cables to go. Way overkill for CCENT training but I'm not a fan of doing things halfway. I almost feel like I learned enough just during the buying process to justify the cost of the equipment. -

I think I will put of re-building the home lab for now... 90% of this is never used and I can access the lot from homeAnd I am just in the process of adding two brand new F5 load balancers in as part of the new job is to learn that
I would take pictures but not sure that the company would like it- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. Albert Einstein

ahh opps. must have been copying the formatting. or a miss type. All this stuff has been a bit neglected so I am going to see about tidying it all up over the comming months. IT takes up 8 racks, with full coverage of termianl servers and a network infrastructure to connet it all togather.- If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough.
