Any free business modeling tools/software?

I know Visio is a nice modeling tool, however I don't have the ducks to afford a version of visio. Is their any process/business modeling software available for free?

I have really gotta get some sort of experience. I did ERD diagrams in my database classes, (Several), but if you don't use you lose. I am trying to set up business ERD's. I am not to concerned with normalizing the business ERD's into a database structure.

Also any recommended books on business modeling? It seems to be the one skill set keeping me from landing solid jobs.

I used ERwin modeling tools in the past. I think that is the best option.

I'm not sure when that was last updated. But I have used a few off the list. I'm pretty sure ERwin is not free, though.

ERwin is a free trial for 15 days which can be extended. (I think ERwin has a free app that is super stripped down). *** I think

Sybase provides a solution too.
