Pass Today with a 840!

So I took the exam at 8:30 this morning. Passed with Flying Colors.

Things that I would study.
OSI model and what protocols go in which layer.
Wireless implementation.
Routing Protocols.
The troubleshooting model. They test heavily on this.

What I used to Study for the exam.
CBT Nuggets - Great series for study.
Tom Lammles Network + Book.
and the study guide from MCMCSE.

Next stop is the Security + by the end of the year. Good luck for anyone who is getting ready for the Network +. Study hard and relax you will get it.

Congrats on the pass. Nice score as well. Do suggest if you're going for Sec+ to pick up the Gibson book, it's all you'll need.

What do you mean by the troubleshooting model? I am currently studying for the network+.

I definitely recommend getting Darril Gibson's book for the Sec+.

CompTIA’s Network+ troubleshooting model includes eight steps, which you should know inside out:

Identify the exact issue.
Re-create the problem.
Isolate the cause.
Formulate a correction.
Implement the correction.
Test the solution.
Document the cause and solution.
Give feedback.

In my own experience, port numbers, media lengths and speeds were some of the points to ensure you know. I just memorized a big table of those and when I went to test copied it out on my dry-erase for a quick reference.

Hypntick is correct that is the model I was speaking of.

And yes I already have the Gibson book in hand ready to start studying as soon as I get a moment at work.

I have about two to 3 weeks to study for the exam. Unfortunately all the testing centers around town are closed right before and after Christmas. It shouldn't be a problem though.

Yeah after posting that I noticed it was from 01.

But it was more the general idea from a quick and dirty google search.

here is the current methodology:

4.6 Given a scenario, implement the following network troubleshooting methodology

• Identify the affected areas of the network

I plan on it. Might even squeeze in A+ by the end of the year. I need to renew it for college. Wish it renewed itself when I took hire exams like Cisco.
