What do you all think of my chances!!

So long story short, I've been interviewing for a contract position at Cisco.

I've done 3 phone interviews, 2 non technical, 1 technical.

I called the project manager who is doing the hiring, he is hiring 2 people. I asked him how my competition looked, he said that they are only talking with 3 other candidates. And he said all the feedback he has gotten from his colleagues has been nothing but positive, but he cannot give me a definitive yes yet.

Now he setup a face to face interview next week, which will be with me, him and the owner of the contracting company they use.

He's already stated that they want to make the job offers that week so they can get candidates onboard the following week.

I figure if this is a fourth in person interview with me him and the contracting company they are most likely gunna make me an offer!

What do ya'll think!? 4th interview is good right?

I never get excited about a job, especially when a contracting company is involved.

If the customer likes you, they'll talk to your contracting company -- and then the contracting company will usually try to maximize their profit. But if you're the only candidate they've got in the running for the position, then you'll probably get a fair offer and could probably counter-offer if you're feeling lucky.

If the contracting company is actually representing all the candidates up for consideration, then there are 2 possibilities.

1. The contracting company is run strictly as a business and will seek to maximize their own profit first, and then try to make the customer happy second. The 2 cheapest acceptable candidates will get the offer from the contracting company.

2. It's a good contracting company, they will try to place the top 2 choices of the customer in the job and will make a reasonable offer to those top 2 candidates to make sure it happens -- and consider a possible counter offer as long as you don't price yourself out of the competition for the job.

And of course -- the customer can always decide at the last minute that they are going to delay the project....

But a 4th interview definitely beats a sharp stick in the eye.

And if someone from your contracting company is going along who can "shake on the deal," then that's a good sign.

Well Cisco just got back to me today before my in person interview with the contracting company and the guy I've been dealing with.

They want my information for the background check so they can do it now. I take that as a pretty good sign they are going to hire me.

Pretty nervous however. I have a clean criminal record, I've never been arrested or committed any felonies. I'm hoping it's just a criminal though. In the past three years I've gone through a divorce, and being out of work my credit is pretty wrecked.

If it's just a criminal check I'm good. If it's credit, I may be screwed.

They can do a credit check, but typically don't. That usually only comes into play when the governement gets involved.
