Finally got a job! :D

Not posted here in ages,but have browsed now and then.
After applying for atleast 250jobs,i've managed to get a position in a large IT Service company as a service desk analyst!

Just finding it really hard to study now as i spend 3hours driving to and from work each day,about 80% through Server '03,there's potential to move around the company,so i plan on completing my MCDA within my probation period,and then doing the ITIL that the company funds you to do,and then hopefully move up a level or gain a different position in the company

I recommend finding a place closer to work if you can. Preferably before gas hits over $4-$5/gal this summer.

lets hope not. i commute 2 hours to work daily. usually gas prices drop down during the summer and go up during the winter from what i've noticed

Congratulations. Your persistance is admiralble. I would advise you to lay off the studies completely until your probation period is over unless you have cleared it with your new boss and he sees it as requirement. You need to concentrating 100% on making a great impression and not getting fired right now. While it's all very worthy, if your peers are seeing you studying on the works dollar they may whine and you may be accused of not being focused on the job in hand. You will make some mistakes being new, but if people see you fully engaged they will fall on the adage that this is to be expected. If you make mistakes and you are not deemed to be fully engaged they will mark you down. People can be difficult and predictable like that at work. They really dont care about your study programme and plans for advancement.

The same goes for studying outside of work. You need rest when you finish your busy day. If you must read something then turn over the notes you are making everyday at work about your new role.

I don't plan on studying my MCSA material while at work,though may do the ITIL stuff since they are the one's providing the material,but that is after my probation period anyway so all is well.
Currently am laying off any further studying,up until I get use to my change in daily routines,by the time i'm home I feel ready to fall asleep already!

I would say i'm a quick learner,and think my team leader and collegues have picked up on this as i've pretty much mastered the e-mail reponses,started taking details down today while a collegue was on the phone to our clients,the job itself is IMO really easy and I can't believe I get paid a very well amount to do such little work compared to the job's I did as a student...
Role involves using Citrix,Novell,Telnet & Amdocs,and alot of call logging.

Though am considering moving to another job somewhere closer to home once i've got a few month's experience under my belt,it's going to cost me roughly £300 ($425ish??) a month on my commute

Sounds good. Just settle in at work. While seemingly easy at present that could change and there are expectations there so you need to spend some weeks getting things done well. Find out what they are and do that! Cancel all other plans for six weeks.
