policy mapping which ccxx?

hey guys

which cert program teaching policy mapping? I have not seen it in the ccnp program ??many people using policy mapping for many things..
is it used primarly in VOIP systems?

QOS guide.

Mainly QOS but you'll also find a lot of info in the IOS zone based firewall guides.

Yup, QoS is where this was at for me.

None the less as a CCNP you should be somewhat familiar with QoS. Sadly I think the CCNP should touch more on QoS then it already does. It amazes me how many CCNP engineers cannot tell me how to configure FRTS or traffic policing.

FRTS, I'm not surprised at. I'll be honest, I couldn't do it without a reference anymore. I just don't have occasion to run across many frame relay circuits.

Policing, otoh, right there with you.

I just took the dang exam and I don't recall much pertaining to FRTS. I hate configuring frame relay, TBH. With other modern solutions available, I wouldn't pick frame relay unless I had no other choice.

And yeah, an NP should at least have the basic of policing down. But that is more into CCIP territory.

CCIE R&S v4 covers a decent amount of QOS configuration. Congestion Management, shaping, policing and the like. The official exam cert guide has about 100 pages on it.

If you want a really good book on the subject. I suggest getting:

Cisco DQOS Exam Certification Guide by Wendell Odom, and Michael Cavanaugh, ISBN: 1-58720-058-9

CCNP:SP Track covers QoS as well under exam 642-785 MPQS
CCNP:Voice Covers it under exam 642-642 QoS
^^^^ This exam is also required for several of the specialist level exams like IP Telephony Design Specialist.

The DQOS exam guide is for the previous version of the current QoS exam. There's an updated version:
