Is this example of VLSM correct?

network 10.0.0.0/8 with a subnet mask of /16 subdivides into 256 subnets, each capable of addressing 16,382 hosts

I thought the number of hosts would be 2^16 which works out as 65,536 minus 2 = 65,534

Q&As are sometimes wrong. Especially the ones that come out of the Cisco Press books. You'll see it throughout your certification adventures.

Yes, plenty of wrong answers in study material. I have found that if you are pretty certain an answer is wrong, most of the time you are right, and it is also a good indication that you understand the material.
