flow analyzer best?

hey guys

what do you recommend for flow analyzer on networks,
we have like 20 network devices and was wondering
what do you recommend for a good network bandwidth protocol analyzer
andy cheap free ones or decent priced. what is your experience?

Solarwinds has a free netflow analyzer.. although it can only watch 1 device at a time.

The "best" is up to personal preference but here are a few I've used:

Network traffic monitoring and analysis with NetFlow and sFlow

You can also get plugins for Zabbix and OpenNMS to support Netflow/Nbar integration. My current favorite is the manage engine product but, that is subject to change

Using ManageEngine here. Not the fastest but it gets the job done. 20 devices would be nothing. That SolarWinds one is looking good though!

Didn't have that problem when I ran it. What type of storage do you have it installed on? Since its write intensive I made sure to install it on a FC SAN partition (IBM XIV).

Solarwinds isn't a bad product and integrates into APM/NPM. Downside is of the solution for me was the price!

I hear you.. I got NPM/APM running, but it seems management cut me off there.. They don't want to approve the NTA for me lol.

Although I am managing with NBAR, the free Netflow from Solarwinds, and Cisco's Netflow... I would just love to start pulling reports/trends.

The only time its actually slow is DNS resolution, but that could be caused by a number of things. I suppose I shouldnt have said anything, my bad. Im not even sure what its installed on. Its offsite at another casino... I just use the web app and give other employees hell
