you are right, some people toled about but i dont have choice!! Just I came in America(Knoxville) a year ago, I have Master Computer science and I speak fluent French and Russian language. good experience in customer service, help desk,.... but in Knoxville i can't find a job so i am looking anywhere to go and i hope to do my PHD too. so if someone have or know where can i apply for job, tell me please.

If you're wanting to stay in TN have you looked at Nashville? While I was looking for jobs a little while ago I noticed a ton of postings for there. Memphis isn't bad if you don't live in the city, but there are limited opportunities available. I find that I keep running into the same people on every job here it seems, pretty small IT market.

I don't want to stay in TN. I want to stay where can i find a job so I am looking anywhere in America. and I am not looking just in IT but even any job because its hard now.

I just found this forum 2 days ago as I'm on a quest to get A+ certified. I've read requirements for the job. Is this considered an entry-level job? I have a bachelers degree with a minor in MIS from the University of Memphis. My experience is limited, but I'd love to have the opportunity. Should I give it a try?

Knoxville is one of the most frustrating job markets ever, they want a PHD and pay you $8/hr. It ridiculous.
Looking around here is killing me, a buddy of mine lives in ATL and i keep threatening to move in with him to get a job there.

I would consider it entry level, but that is just my two cents. You can give it a try. I am not sure where the ITS manager is with interviews at the present. He is currently flying back to Coppell or I would ask him for you.

I believe this position was filled internally. However, the help desk technician's position, that is taking the lab job, is or will be open.

off topic but replying to yall that think memphis is so dangerous... I grew up in memphis, spent most of my life there, and I can tell you that it is all in the area in which you live that will be the deciding factor of whether or not it is dangerous. Germantown / Cordova areas are fine. Other areas are not so good but it isn't like crazy dangerous anyways.

I had no idea Knoxville was that bad! My plan has been to move back to Sevierville (from FL) after getting experience and certs where I'm at now. Looks like my plan may have to change...

I work at a Casino making just under 14 an hour with nothing more than an A+ and a bit of college... But I hate FL and LOVE TN...

What do you guys think? Should I still try for that area or?

Germantown is still fine, not that I could ever afford to live there. Cordova is rapidly going down hill. However with the new(er) mayor in office in Memphis things may change for the better. I'm not exactly going to hold my breath however, as the same inept city council keeps getting voted in.

The downside to Sevierville is their isn't much in the way of industry per se. Most of the jobs in that area would be mom and pop computer stores. You could start a business supporting, I look on dice, craigslist, as well as have my resume with several recruiters, I would suggest laying the groundwork before making a move.

Which part of FL?

I wasnt really looking to work in Sevierville. I was thinking north end of the county, say Kodak maybe. I was assuming (By Dice postings) that the job market was looking good in Knox. So living in Kodak, hop on I40 to Knoxville for work. I would actually want a start date before I even move. Most likely drive up for a really promising interview, and only if I really thought I would get the job (Im not that good of a candidate, and horrible at interviews).

Im in Okeechobee FL

Still wondering if I could even think of getting a job in that area? Should I still try for that area or no hope?

I didn't realize there were so many people from Knoxville on here. I will admit it took a while to find something after I got laid off, but it does seem things are better here now. The problem with Knoxville is that is kind of a small market and there seem to be a lot of people looking for IT jobs in this area.
We do also have the problem that the pay is not as good, but the cost of living here is real cheap in comparison to other areas.
