Windows NT4 Terminal Server Edition Media

Does anyone know where I can still get a media for it ? We had to repair a box which requires files from the original CD which is unfortunatly bust

Not even Technet or MSDN has them anymore ...

Not even Technet or MSDN has them anymore ...

The only way to get it does not involve Microsoft if you know what I mean. MS won't give you the time of day if you go to them asking for it.

Unfortunately you are left with few options. To keep legacy systems going like this you really need to virtualize and take nightly snaps to avoid a situation like this, not that this tongue wagging helps you now. Try shopping on EBAY or post an ad on craigslist. Somone has an old NT4 CD sitting around somewhere.

I've a copy of NT 4.0 Server & Workstation with Service Pack 4.0a. Don't know about the terminal server edition though...

I actually think I have pretty much the full set of original NT 4.0 server discs at home, pretty sure there is a Terminal Server disc in there.

You could always buy this NEW box of NT4 Terminal Server with 5 CALs. You don't need Server 2008 just lean on the tried and trusted technology of 10 years ago! Price is bit steep though!

Basically this system is driving an electronic microscope of a company which doesn't exist anymore and the software is only compatible with NT4 Terminal Server (a special thin client is used to connect to it). The only way to upgrade would basically purchasing a new software system which was quoted at over $60k.

I know there are quite a few auctions on eBay but we already purchased about 10 copies across the board and a lot of them turn out to be CALs only or the wrong edition (even though full versions were advertised) which is why I rather try to find a copy elsewhere as people on eBay don't seem to k ow the difference.

Software always came in boxes, not like today where you download the latest version instead of using the CD... aww.. them were the days

Sure. I have a boxed NT Server sitting on a shelf at home it's even still in the celephane. Ebay. Got Novell 3.12 in boxes as well and 4.0 Intranetware. I rather like legacy OS's and when time allows next year I will be building a legacy lab. Stuff still needs to be supported. That's why I advise that new IT Professionals pick up a few of the jettisoned study books for retired tracks. You never know and they are only a few dollars used on amazon or ebay.

That cover is badass. That looks like a cool idea for a tat (minus the windows script on it and such).

I purchased an exact copy of this auction from someone else which turned out to be NT4 Workstation .. now in a "I want my money back" fight ..

Not sure, I know how to identify Server 2000+ but not NT ... one way to find out is starting the CD and see what the autostart menu says
