Hello all. I am now entering my second year of college pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. I have been looking into different certifications and need some guidance in which will betterment myself as an engineer. I know that I heard A+ is a critical test. I've also been looking into..

MCTS/MCITP 70-680
MTA- 98-361 Software Development Fundamentals
MOS-Office Specialist.

Any feedback on those tests? Were they difficult/easy? How long, what did you use to study?

Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

I would skip the MOS. Are you leaning towards System Engineer or software engineer?

First thing is to figure out which track you would like to go. Then go for certs that aline themselves with that track.

Starting with the A+ is a good foundation and building block, and is often required to even get past HR when applying for jobs. After that, MCITP would be the most obvious path to go down. Here are a couple great posts about each that I think you will find useful

The core group of any person who wants to be a System Engineer tends to be these certs:

A+, Network+, MCSA/MCITP: SA, MCSE/MCITP: EA. I'd start more down that path (as you can see that was basically my own path) and you can branch out as you like from there.

Good luck. I think skipping A+ and going for the MCITP SA would be your best bet. This would include 70-680

    or

Go for the Cisco route and get your CCNA

The MSITP SA doesn't include the 70-680, you're thinking of the MCITP EA... I think anyone going for the SA should progress to the EA anyway (thats my aim). Likewise, I don't see any reason why someone shouldn't obtain the SA even if they have the EA.
