Passed ICND 1 today!

Resources used:

Cisco Press ICND 1
Exam Cram
CBT Nuggets
Todd Lammle's CCNA
Boson Ex Sim ICND 1 (HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!)
This forum (great resource)
Packet Tracer

I got sims during the first 10 questions, probably 3 lab sims in total requiring show commands. I had about 20 minutes left on the clock when I was done.

Thanks to everyone for the awesome advice and encouragement. This forum pretty much re-motivated me to pursue my CCNA after putting it off since the beginning of this year. Now...ONTO ICND 2!!

Thanks! Nope wasn't that bad, I think the actual exam is a bit more forgiving grading wise than Boson. I'll definitely be hitting the books on ICND2!!

Know subnetting like the back of your hand. They may give you a scnerio where you have a network and what would be the best mask to apply to that network without wasting hosts. If you can, get Boson ex-sim, it's harder than the exam and it really gives you detailed explanations.

Not only do you need to know it like the back of your hand, but you need to be able to perform it in your head very fast. I would say in less than 60 seconds for this test. Closer to 20 seconds for the ICND2 or CCNA (depending on the question) Some questions require that you subnet and evaluate each choiced answer and the networks in the diagram/simulation to find the answer. (5 seconds for those questions).

    Good luck to you!

Thanks! I'm sure everyone's schedule is different, but study AT LEAST 2 hours a day. With me, I work long hours, so I study during lunch, and when I get home at night, I study some more. As I referenced above, I recommend Boson ex-sim, it gives you a very realistic idea of what to expect during the exam. Using Boson helped me determine which area's I was weak in and what I did was read that section some more in Wendell Odom's CCENT/ICND book (in my case, NAT was my weak area). Know if enough so you can explain it to someone off the street and they will be able to understand you. Good luck in your studies!
