Job Interview for next week wednesday

Guys, I just got a call for an interview for next week. It is for a PC Specialist position with the State and right now I already have an offer. Should I schedule the interview or just tell them i'm not interested?

Are you going to take the offer?

If so, and you are sure it's a firm offer, then call the place back and politely decline. No reason to waste a company's time if you already have an offer you are going to take.

Yes, I already signed my offer letter. My wife wants me to go for the interview because it's a state job.

Also, you never know when you might encounter/need them in the future.

Yes, but there is no guarantee you will actually end up with the job. If at the end they do offer you a job, what are you going to do? Telling them you already signed an offer letter after going through all that just wastes time.

Why does it matter the other job is a state job?

My educated guess would be perceived job security and/or salary/benefits. OP can correct me if I'm wrong.

state have a better salary, job security and benefit - $2000 more and I don't have to worry about levy not passing. I don't think its that much to go for it. I'll turn it down.
