I need to pass CCNA, where do I start

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, I would like to know where do I start to achieve the CCNA cert, I have no previous experience of Networking. I would appreciate any good advise and suggestion. Thanks

Where you start depends a lot on you. No one here can say "do this and you will pass". If you do not have any previous networking experience, I would recommend you start with Net+ first and then CCNA. You don't have to, many people start with CCNA, but I believe it would help a lot. It all depends on your background and comfort level.

Also, classes may help you get through it faster if you can.

You can do ccna if you are motivated enough.

1st thing is go to cisco download the exam topics

Then get the books, get some videos (like cbt nuggets ), get some lab guides/lab books.

Download gsn3 and or packet tracer. And start labbing and studying.

I'd do the two exam path - ICND1 and ICND2

I would concur with both the 2 exam advice and get your Network+ cert first. Going from Network+ to the ICND1 and then the ICND2 exams would be a good path to build both knowledge and experience for each level/exam. And the Net+ cert is fairly easy IMHO.

I agree with everyone here go the 2 test route. That is how I recently got my CCNA. I highly reccomend the Wendell Odom CCNA books it is split in two for the ICND1 and ICND2. I did however, skip the Network+ route so I can't comment on that. I did have experience with networking though prior to taking the exams. Good luck on whichever route you choose.

Did you have any previous networking experience before hand?

It really depends if you have a technical mind as well. If you're good with understanding technologies you can go straight into ICND1+2. But if you want to learn the basics I'd say at least read through a Network+ book, that way it'll give you a foundational block to build up from.
