I've read on multiple sites that this is critical, this was also the message one of the PM's in the orginzation I worked for suggested. I am going with this formula Study guide 3 times pmbok 1 time. Okay anyway to my question I currently have several old server books I have purchased but never read. 70-290 and 291. I have started going through 290 just to fill some knowledge gaps and because it's fun labbing. Reading, reading, and reading and not applying wears me out so this has been actually enjoyable. (SAD I know) I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on this. I don't want to spread myself to thin, but on the other hand I am not just interested in Project Management I like other things as well. I am not doing the server labbing and reading for a certification. It's just for fun and knowledge. I do hope to achieve more knowledge and to give myself a more indepth understanding of client server environments. All my knowledge is from performing the work so I am hoping to compress my knowledge with additional concepts.

If it's the former then quit being ADD and knock out the PMP . if it's the latter then just switch tracks to something you are more interested in and hopefully will aid you in your current job. Most organizations like to see an ROI when they pay for certs (if they are...), and the more often you are able to demonstrate it, the more likely they are to foot the bill the next go round.
