Should I omit objectives from an internship resume?

I am looking for my first internship/job in IT and applying to some top companies through my university. Some companies (Ernst & Young, HD Supply) offer internship positions not related to IT. When submitting my resume and requesting an on-campus interview, I am not asked which position I want to apply to. Sometimes it doesn't even mention the type of positions offered; the advertisement only mentions the majors they are seeking.

When applying at these companies, should I put in a general objective such as:
To obtain an internship in IT with my experience in computer troubleshooting and scripting to enhance my technical expertise

Or should I just leave it out altogether? I am afraid leaving it out would not highlight the area/field I want to intern in.

My thoughts exactly. Your objective is to get a job. Your resume wouldn't be there otherwise. It's stating the obvious IMO and the space could be better used for something to make you stand out.

Id typically leave it out if I was asked to submit my resume after applying for a specific position. The thing is that there are 8 positions or so that are in various departments. The application did not ask me to apply for a specific position. I ended up leaving it in this time but I'll continue to leave it out for other applications. Thanks!
