banner exec with spaces

Okay so I am having a hell of a time trying to add a banner exec and banner login to one of our 2921s here.

Example of what the banner exec should look like:

banner exec %

        Name:                  $(hostname)


        Address:               XXXXXXXX
                               XXXXXXXX


        Main Phone:            XXX-XXX-XXXX (Network Operations)       


        Device Location:       Floor: 1
                               Room: MDF / Computer Room

What it looks like when I login after applying the above:

banner exec %

Any idea why this is not lining up those lines? All of our other devices use the same template and they look correct.

This is working in multiple 2921's except for one?

And are you pasting the banner into the console? Have you tried entering by hand to see if the whitespace stays?

This is just happening with one new router, that happens to be a 2921. All of our other production boxes (as far as I know) are correct. We have all sorts of models, including 2800s, 2900s, 3600s, 3700s, 3800s, 6500s, etc (you get the picture, big network). I tried at the console on Friday and this morning over telnet/ssh, but got the same results. I have also tried manually entering it, as well as using a different terminal application.

It might have something to do with the revision of the firmware loaded on that box. Have you checked Cisco's bug list for this type of problem?

Hmmm... didn't think of that. I'll check the bug list and post findings.

Didn't find anything on the Bug Toolkit. As an FYI we are running 15.0(1)M2.

I started up a box in GNS3 and posted the banner exec without issues. Really weird...
