WGU Readiness Assessment

I've heard and read great things about WGU and I'd like to finish my degree. I guess the question I have is how hard is the Readiness Assessment and what is included in it? I graduated from high school in 05 and I took some college courses back in 2007 and 2008 and I haven't done any math since then. If I wanted to practice some of it where would I start or what should I brush up on? Thank you in advance for the help.

It's all VERY basic math and english. And the essay you have to write is about 200 words I think. If you have any basic math and grammar skills you will do just fine on the Readiness Assessments. I took them all at work in between tickets.

lol its funny when you say tickets because I'm currently doing tickets. So about the math is it algebra level? I know I'm just a bit nervous and I feel stupid all of the sudden

From what I remember Algebra level would be the highest level on the test. It's all VERY basic.

A little bit of algebra and complex fractions otherwise simple math.

It was basic algebra and middle school grammar. Reading passages and knowing how to recognize how sentences should sound. Essay is easy, just make sure you make paragraphs.

Are different topics given you for the essay?

Yes, topics are given to you. Mine was in regards to a life experience and how it impacted me - nothing difficult if you are moderately expressive.

Yes. In fact they warn you if it is too long they won't evaluate it.

If you're REALLY worried about the algebra look at ALEKS for some cheap (20 bucks a month) refresher. It's basically HS level algebra, so you should be able to get it with a quick refresher.

Entrance testing to colleges like this meet the minimum guidelines. Enough said.

I graduated high school in 1994. And haven't taken a math or English class since 1997.

I took the test last fall, and it didn't seem difficult. You'd have more difficulty with the military ASVAB.

Don't stress over it. Just do the Nike motto.

How do you know whether you passed the assessment test or not? Will you get an automated email saying Congratulations?

They e-mail you like a day or two later and you'll receive a call. I nkow when I tried last year I failed my math (i've always, always sucked at math, also rushed like a bat out of hell though it) and my essay was like 600 words. Either way you'll know quickly if you did well or not.

I fretted so much over taking the Readiness assessment at WGU. I thought it was going to be hard, I researched nonstop trying to find out how difficult it would be and psyched myself out for quite some time over it. I finally sucked it up and took it, and then was laughing the entire time after about 5 questions. It is so easy it almost gives you the feeling this may not be a real college. Not at all true, but just funny how simple it was. I SUCK at math, but passed with flying colors.

Don't stress, just take it.
