Hi guys. I'm borred. So I want to get another certification after RHCE - I've dumped Suse certification because I could not get an answer from their representatives in my country.Unfortunately in my country I cant take any exam above RHCE except RHCVA but we use VMWare here so I cant go above RHCE.
Any sugestions? I'm a sysadmin- as the title says.
THks

OptionsBodanel Member Posts: 214 ■■■□□□□□□□I've done the courses, I have the knowledge but I never took the exam. Actually was the first certification programm I enrolled when I was a student but the exam costs was a bit expensive at the time to pay from my scolarship.

Why not the RHCE Security Specialist?

Optionscrashdump Banned Posts: 134I recommend you studying for "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris 10 System Administrator". A real sys admin knows UNIX
Be warned, Oracle requires attendance of course in order to get certified. If you passed System Administration, there is Network, Security Administration. So many exams
They are not simple. -
Optionslog32 Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 217mind the fact LPIC-3 Security requires you to take 5 different exams before being able to take the security test:
LPIC-1 = Exam 101 + 102
LPIC-2 = Exam 201 + 202
LPIC-3 Core = Exam 301
and after you obtain the core exam you are allowed to take one of the specialties certs (Security / Virtualization & High Availability / Mixed Environments) -
OptionsBodanel Member Posts: 214 ■■■□□□□□□□All LPIC exams combined are half of the price of Solaris course with certification. I dont think that LPIC 1 and LPIC 2 will be more difficult than RHCE.

Interesting to know! I haven't taken of these certs, but I studied some of CISSP domains. PMP & CISSP are respected certs. The knowledge in CEH is a good asset for Sysadmins...
I think experience is more important for system administrators. Getting experience with backup solutions, disaster recovery solutions, Storage, maybe networking.. -
OptionsBodanel Member Posts: 214 ■■■□□□□□□□I've decided to do OSCP (by Offensive Security Training and Professional Services) and some backup reading. The simplest backup saved my a$$ a few times so it's time to payback and do some more readings on this.

I have CEH and am about to test for PMP. PMP is more difficult than my MBA studies, and is required for most PM jobs that pay six figures $, but the standards are very high and most don't meet them. CEH will normally require their course for $3,000; you can apply to self-study, but you must have at least two years' experience in Security work.
I would like to get OSCP some day, but have other priorities.
