Passed Network+ Yesterday!!

Took awhile to get my first post, and there's no better time. I passed the N10-005 Network+ exam yesterday and passed with an 821.

I want to thank everyone that posts on these forums, the advice and insights into taking all the different cert exams and what it takes to pass was invaluable to how I prepped and studied for the exam.

A few notes on the exam. I was really surprised to find that there were no questions at all on my exam about subnetting or doing any binary conversions. I figured there would at least be a few considering the practice tests I took all had subnetting questions in one form or another. Also, I was a little nervous about the interactive questions but luckily they weren't too bad at all. It took a little poking around to figure out how to operate the questions, one I had to reset to get the options to work.

All in all I feel like I was very prepared. I used the Pearson Network+ Cert Guide (w/practice tests) and the Sibex Network+ Review Guide. It was good to use two different publishers to get a slightly different angle on the different subjects within the test.

Again, thanks again to you all for your posts and I look forward to prepping for the Security+ in February.

Also, what did you think about the pearson study material? I haven't heard much about Pearson CompTIA study material in general.

First and foremost, congrats on the pass!

However, I have questions

I just went to take my test, but only got through the first three questions before it started throwing errors. Turned out it was corrupt and I have to call Monday to reschedule. What I saw has me very worried though, because the questions were ALL "simulations" as opposed to multiple choice like I studied for so it seemed as if the entire format of the test had changed (based on what I saw in the A+ exams I took in September).

After reading your post, it would seem to indicate they are not all that way and only some are "interactive"? I ask because the first two were simple to figure out what the exam was asking for, but the third one was rather strange and I wasn't sure I was going to get it (though since that is the one that errored out, maybe that's why). However, if all the questions are these "simulations" then it would seem I am not prepared like I thought I was and that seems unfair. Please let me know thanks.

To above poster it seems like the first 3 questions are the interactive ones and then the multiple choice starts - judging from the original post.

@DoubleNNs...thanks, that's what it seemed like to me to, I just wanted to hear it from someone who'd recently taken it so I was hoping the OP would be willing to chime in. I hope this posting isn't rude, as that is not my intention.

To ease your fears, there were only a few of those. There was one that I had to reset to get it to work. Sorry to hear that yours errored out and you have to retake, thats a real bummer.

Yah, I know...it sucks to be all pumped up and ready to go with the review fresh in your mind, then all of sudden you have to wait almost a week (with the holiday). Thanks again though, much appreciated.
