How to Boot Cisco ASA stuck in ROMMON from a Flash Drive

kmcintosh78kmcintosh78 Member Posts: 195
So, I have a Cisco ASA 5505 that is kicking out the following errors:
Launching BootLoader...
Default configuration file contains 1 entry.

Searching / for images to boot.

No images in /
Error 15: File not found

unable to boot an image

Default configuration file contains 1 entry.

unable to boot an image

Failsafe booting engaged.

I am wanting to either correct this, or set the ASA to boot the image from an external USB Drive.

Any assistance would be great.

Thanks

Oh, Registry is set for the 001 value, so I think the issue is a corrupt Memory.

If you do a show version does the configuration register show as 0x1? or 001? Just want to clarify.

I think the last time I tried this I found out that it was not available.

I just used the 'confreg' command.

Where you able to boot from the USB? It's been a few years since I tried so maybe it works now.

Nope, as I don't know the correct command to do so.

Yeah, I'm with networker....I don't think its doable. From the Cisco ASA 5500 Series Hardware Installation Guide

USB 2.0 interfaces: Not supported at this time.

I don't have one in front of me to test for myself.
