So the creator of this list considers the A+, Network+, CISA, and CISM to be "cybersecurity" certifications?

And somebody needs to inform this list's author that the SCP went out of business years ago.

Yes, some of those certs are mentioned here at TE. I don't personally know anything about them. It's uncommon for a certification vendor to also be their own testing provider unless they are quite small.

@JDMurray - I am curious why you don't consider the CISM as a security related certification. I would agree that it is not technical in nature but the material is about security management.

When I was walking through the vendor expo at the RSA conference, all I saw were signs with, "APT," "Next Generation," and of course, "Cyber."

CyberThreats! CyberWarriors! CyberSecurity!

I kept hitting bingo.

I first noticed "cyber" getting a lot of air play back in 2008. It looked like the DoD was the one really pushing it. I laughed that nobody was going to revive that word again, except for a future generation of science fiction and computer game writers (cyborg, cybermancer, Dr. Who's Cybermen, William Gibson's cyberspace, etc.). The term also reeked on old, massive computers (Control Data Corporation's Cyber series that had a refrigeration system larger than the computer itself). No way "cyber" would catch on as a marketing category let alone as an Internet meme.

Boy, was I wrong.
