what do i wear to my second interview?

Ive been called in for a follow-up interview for a jr sys/network admin job and the first interview i already wore my only suit lol.........all i have left are basically slacks, dress shirts, khakis, jeans....but unfortunately that was my only full suit lulz.

Can you wear the same suit with a different dress shirt/tie? People probably won't make a big deal out of it, assuming they even notice. Another option is to buy a properly fitting mens blazer that matches your existing spare slacks. Add the blazer/slacks to a new dress shirt/tie and you're in business.

Ditch the jacket and just wear a dress shirt with a tie. It won't be an issue.

I am going to be a potential voice of dissent. If it seems OK from what you saw in the first interview then go with a shirt, tie and slacks but if the culture is buisness formal wear the suit again with a different shirt and tie.

Just my thoughts.

I wore a different shirt and tie with my suit on my second interview. I was meeting with the CTO and Director so I think a suit was appropriate.

If a suit was appropriate for the first interview then I have to think the same would be appropriate for the second. Now, if the people who interviewed the OP were in jeans and t-shirts that changes things I suppose.

Wearing the same suit is hardly a big deal; as others have said, just go with a different shirt and tie.

Heck, if you are just wearing a plain white shirt then only change the tie...

I don't think the shirt, tie, and pants no jacket thing is a good look. It's sort of a car salesman, waiter or a Catholic school look.

I own one suit too, just do what the others have said - change the shirt and tie and wear the suit. Focus on what your going to say there, not your clothes so much. I wouldnt care if a candidate presented themselves in the exact same outfit twice, if they point it out to you I wouldnt work there.

The setting was actually very casual. The interviewers were wearing jeans / t-shirts and comfortable clothing, as were the other employees lol.

you're on display though... i wouldn't come down because they were casual. i'd stick to the formality of the traditional interview.

I'm sure you know at least 1 male. Don't even have to be particularly cool/friendly with them.
Borrow the tie.

If you don't know how to tie a tie, there are apps for that. Youtube videos. Websites.

Just don't stress too much about it. Try to look your best but focus more on what you'll say tomorrow.

I have to admit I am a little flabbergasted that the OP has a suit, but no ties... but honestly, unless it is an unusual suit it is likely that the interviewers won't even notice.

I can't imagine there isn't a store somewhat on the way that sells ties - leave 15 minutes early and hit a Sears/JC Penny/Kohls.

Being "over" dressed is always superior to being "under" dressed. Just change the shirt... & after the interview go buy some ties!

I've never worn a blazer to an interview. I always felt it was overkill unless I knew I was expected to wear one on a daily basis.

With a few exceptions, people that have to wear a suit every day don't have 15-20 suits in their closet like someone who has to wear polo shirts would. They have a handful of suits and a variety of shirts and ties.

OK guys i fuckign nailed that second interview

i wore a khaki blazer white shirt & blank slacks

got a recommendation from the VP after passing their second screening test to see if im legit, so i think im pretty safe lol.

I was saying he can go to walmart for a tie, they have decent ties. You cant really make a full windsor with them but they are "formal"

I think that fashion is perhaps the second most favourite discussion topic on TE.

Your post reminded me of a job candidate that I interviewed over 10 years ago. We were a small financial service company where dress code in the office was very casual. The job candidate had come to the first interview in a suit and tie that was clearly ill-fitting and borrowed (way too big). I remember the HR Director stopping in my office and commenting on his appearance. And the various team members that interviewed him had made a few snide comments. The candidate was sharp and hungry enough that he got the second interview to meet with me and the CEO. The HR Director told me that she warned the candidate to make sure that he should try to find something a bit more fitting to wear.

On the day of the interview, the candidate arrived with a new suit - clearly off the rack at Sears - but it fitted. The way I knew it was from Sears was because the tag on the coat sleeve was still on it. Needless to say, we both had a good chuckle. And the HR Director was motified. It was the first suit, he had ever bought and owned.

All that said, we hired him. Not because he was dressed impecabbly. But because he recognized the formality of the meetings and he went to the extra effort to get a suit the same day. And took the advice provided by the HR Director to try to look his best.
