MCSE or MCITP?

Hey Guys

Sum up my story, have a A+ Cert (from 2003), since then have worked IT help desk and phone support positions.
I recently go laid off and have the opportunity to better myself and move forward. I was thinking of getting a MCSE or MCITP (I see on Microsoft's website that many MCITP certs will be unavailable after July 2014.) My question is do I focus on a MCITP or MCSE? What is more valuable? Any other suggestions or advice is appreciated. or Should I skip this and get Cisco certs?

It's still possible to do the MCSA: Server 2008 exams - what would have been MCITP:SA before it was retired. MCITP:EA retires for good at the end of this month. So after that happens MCSE 2012 is the only advanced Microsoft certification there is.

It depends on what you want to do:

MCSA 2008 = 640 + 642 + 646

MCSE 2012 = 410 + 411 + 412 + 413 + 414 (or 415/416 instead of 413/414)

Doing both MCSA 2008 & MCSE 2012 = 640 + 642 + 646 + 417 + 413 + 414

Going for Cisco is a different career route altogether, choose carefully. Do some Microsoft, do some Cisco, choose whichever route you prefer - or you could do a bit of both - see how you get on with the exams & job first...

Thanks for the response tats some good info. Honestly I know nothing abut Cisco n If I would even like it or not. So I suppose MCSA 8 then MCSE 2012. How about N+? I could know more about Networking, or is it worth it? Any info is very helpful.
